Before Odoo: Fragmented Systems and Rising Costs

As MenMD expanded, its operational systems became increasingly fragmented. Key workflows were distributed across multiple software tools that failed to communicate efficiently, creating inconsistencies in reporting and slowing down decision-making.

The company’s biggest challenge stemmed from Salesforce, which charged per portal user, an unsustainable model as MenMD’s user base grew. Software costs escalated rapidly without a proportional improvement in performance or efficiency. 

Additionally, managing sensitive healthcare data posed unique challenges. MenMD needed a centralized, secure ERP that could handle HIPAA-compliant prescription management, patient data migration, and automated billing, all while maintaining flexibility for ongoing growth.


Why Odoo Became the Right Prescription


MenMD discovered Odoo through a referral from Odoo USA, which connected them with Bista Solutions, a trusted Gold Partner and multiple-time Odoo Best Partner awardee in North America. After evaluating several alternatives, MenMD chose Bista for their deep expertise in healthcare implementations and proven ERP experience.

The goal was clear: to replicate and enhance Salesforce functionalities in a more scalable, integrated environment, before the Salesforce renewal deadline in February 2025.

The implementation covered every operational layer of MenMD’s business, designed to fit its healthcare-specific workflows. The result was a fully customized, HIPAA-compliant Odoo ERP system.

The implementation included web portals for doctors and patients, a custom-built Rx Prescription Management module, and appointment scheduling to streamline patient interactions. MenMD also leveraged the Shop module for product purchases, as well as Sales and Subscription apps with autofill workflows for repeat orders. Invoicing and payment processes, including workflows for doctor-paid prescriptions, were optimized, alongside SI Compounder integration for compounding prescriptions. 

The also system incorporated Helpdesk and Complaint Management, refined user access and permissions to safeguard sensitive data, email marketing, SMS, and automated triggers, task and activity management for internal teams, and custom reports to provide leadership with full visibility over operations.

The 10-month remote implementation, from business analysis to development, UAT, and go-live, was managed entirely online. Despite challenges, including data migration from Salesforce and prescription workflows for controlled substances, MenMD and Bista Solutions achieved a seamless transition.

With 98% of critical UAT tickets resolved before launch, the go-live phase was completed on time. The outcome? An all-in-one system that now connects every department, every workflow, and every patient interaction.
