From disjointed tools to a unified management system
The story of Dicar Motorhomes starts back in the late 1980s, when the company was founded as a small-scale family business. Years of hard work progressively led to big motorhome brands trusting the team to sell their vehicles and the business expanding with an ever-better offer and a growing team.
For a while, Dicar Motorhomes relied on a combination of different tools to handle the daily operations. A niche-focused Dealer Management System (DMS) was used to manage sales and aftersales processes, while Excel sheets supported various operational and planning tasks, and Wolters Kluwer served as their accounting and controlling solution.
Having disjointed tools was making it complex to manage the business efficiently, with the different departments working in separate systems with no interconnectivity. This led to data duplication, inconsistent information, and limited visibility across the company. Additionally, the existing tools were rigid and offered no room for customization or process innovation. Altogether, it made it difficult to grow and adapt the IT landscape to Dicar’s evolving needs.
This is why the company started searching for stable and future-proof software with countless integration options. Looking to gain efficiency, automate processes, centralize data and handle growth, Dicar Motorhomes investigated several options, such as Microsoft Business Central, SAP and Odoo. The final choice was set on Odoo, as it was a booming ERP package focused on the SME market that could adapt to specific needs and offer an intuitive and user-friendly platform.

A structured approach to implement Odoo’s all-in-one solution
Dicar Motorhomes worked together with DCBO, a Silver implementation partner, to complete a smooth transition from their current way of working to Odoo. The project followed a structured approach, with the following steps:
- Exploration and analysis: Identifying business needs and software requirements.
 - Formation of a key user team: Involving all major departments to ensure process alignment.
 - Blueprinting and diagnosis: Mapping all workflows and defining the future system architecture.
 - Vendor and software selection: Comparing solutions and selecting Odoo.
 - Implementation in sprints: Rolling out departments step by step in staging.
 - Testing, training, and final deployment: Preparing users and ensuring a smooth transition.
 
In November 2024, the platform went live with version 16 of the software and Dicar Motorhomes’ team started using it on a daily basis. A year later, the company migrated towards the version 18, further optimizing the system landscape.

Implementing Odoo has allowed the team to optimize the way things were handled. As of now, it is possible to adapt business processes quickly and easily when and where it is necessary.
