For some people, snacks are more than just food. They're a bonding tool. Shared during catch-ups, gifted after a trip, or simply enjoyed together. In many ways, snacks bring people closer.
POS Snack was born from that very spirit: Offering local, familiar flavors sourced directly from nearby MSMEs. Founded in 2018 by a former journalist from Garut, the brand has grown fast. Unexpectedly, the pandemic helped accelerate it.
In just three years, POS Snack opened seven branches across Garut and Tasikmalaya. Now in its seventh year, the business has had its fair share of ups and downs. So, how did they manage it all?
The Breaking Point: Blind Spots, Fraud, and a 300M IDR Gap
Fraud from employees manipulating transactions, infrequent stock opname, anddiscrepancy on the financial reports were three of many signs for Deni Muhamad Arif, POS Snack’s founder, that something has to be done about how he runs his business.
Since the beginning, he knew manual bookkeeping, scattered chats, and manual counting was never the way if he aimed for expansion. He did try using a cashier app, but new issues popped up. Some staff bypassed the system and sold products without recording them. Inventory went down, but money didn’t come in. Losses ranged from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions. Per incident.
Trying a separate inventory system made things worse. It didn’t sync with sales, creating more confusion. The last straw was was when the system data didn’t match the actual stock, with a gap of around 300 million IDR. When Deni asked the vendor for help, he was told, “Sometimes software just bugs out.”
That’s when he said, “Enough. It’s time to switch.”

Deni knew going digital would be a big move. New tools, data migration, team adjustments… But he also knew the cost of not doing it.
After comparing systems, he chose Odoo for its all-in-one setup, affordable pricing, and agility.
“I asked the Odoo team: Can we go live in a month? I didn’t want to renew our old system. They said yes — and they delivered.”

What Changed with Odoo?
Once Odoo was implemented, things changed for the better.

Everything Is Synced
Sales, inventory, and accounting are now connected. When new stock arrives, it shows up on the cashier side instantly. When products are sold, inventory updates automatically and is logged for accounting. End-to-end, no double entry needed.

Clean Data, Better Control
Managing seven branches is now possible remotely. Sales reports are centralized, audits are simpler, and fraud risk has dropped significantly.

Regular Stock Opname
Stock counts, which used to happen once in months, can now be done monthly — thanks to clean, consistent data.

Automated Promos & Loyalty Points
No more manual tracking in putting effort to gain returning customers. Discounts, loyalty points, and bundles are handled directly from the system, making checkout smoother and customer shopping history tracking effortless.

Expansion-Ready & Foolproof
Opening a new store? POS Snack only needs to duplicate existing POS (Point of Sale) settings.
Having known the benefits of Odoo, Deni even invested in both software and hardware. Today, all POS Snack’s outlets use dual-screen POS, allowing customers to view transactions live.
It’s not just faster, it’s also a safeguard. With both sides seeing the same screen, there's less room for human error or manipulation. The result? A smooth cashier experience, happy customers, and increased revenue.
"Before, I stressed over mismatched reports. Now, I focus on growing the business."
