Solution. 💸

Currently, in Odoo, there is a workaround you can use to view accounting reports in a currency different from the database’s main currency. To do this, you need to follow these steps:

1)You should create a new company with the main currency in which you want to see the reports. For this example, we need to see the reports in USD, so we will select this currency as the primary one:

Likewise, you must set up the same fiscal location package in the new company:

2) Enter to the company we just created and go to the accounting module, specifically to the settings:

  • Accounting Module -> Configuration -> Settings -> Search for “Currencies”.
  • Configure the same information you have in the original company regarding the “automatic currency rates”, that is, the service and the interval. For this example, set the service to “Bank of Mexico” and the interval to “Daily”:

3) To be able to view the report in the alternate currency, you just need to enter the new company in USD and then select the information from the main company:

⚠️

Note: It’s important to keep in mind that this applies after you have performed transactions in the main currency. Otherwise, you can import historical exchange rates into the new USD company to view reports for transactions created before knowing this alternate solution.

4) By following these steps, you will be able to see accounting reports in a different currency. For example, a balance sheet:

  • In the main company, we will see it in pesos (MXN):

  • And by using this workaround, we can view it in dollars (USD) in the alternate company:

We hope this configuration helps you visualize accounting reports in a currency different from the database’s main currency! 😎

Hello Angélica, viewing accounting reports in a currency different from your database's main currency is a common requirement for businesses operating in multiple currencies. Here's how you can achieve this in Odoo:

Ensure that the multi-currency feature is enabled in your Odoo settings. Go to Accounting > Configuration > Settings, and make sure the "Multi-Currencies" option is checked.

Update the exchange rates regularly. Odoo uses the latest exchange rates to convert amounts in reports. Go to Accounting > Configuration > Currencies, select your currencies (e.g., USD), and update the current rates.

When viewing reports, choose the currency you wish to see the report in. In most accounting reports within Odoo, there's an option to select the currency. If this option is not visible, it might be due to the specific report type or your Odoo version's limitations.
