Dear Kamelia,
You accidentally triggered a paid trial in Odoo 18 and want to revert to the free "One App Free" plan. Here's how to try and get back to the free version:
Understanding the "One App Free" Plan
- One App Limit: The "One App Free" plan in Odoo Online is free forever, but it's limited to one installed application.
- Automatic Installation: Sometimes, installing one app can automatically install other dependent apps, pushing you over the one-app limit and triggering the trial.
- Uninstallation Doesn't Always Revert: Simply uninstalling the extra app(s) doesn't always automatically revert you to the free plan.
Steps to Revert to the Free Plan:
- Identify All Installed Apps:
- Go to the "Apps" module in your Odoo database.
- Carefully review the list of all installed apps. Make a note of every app that is currently installed.
- Uninstall Extra Apps (Leaving Only One):
- Uninstall all apps except for the one app you want to use for free.
- Important: Be sure to uninstall any apps that were automatically installed as dependencies.
- To uninstall an app, click on the app in the Apps module, then click the three dots in the upper right corner and select "Uninstall".
- Check for Remaining Dependencies:
- After uninstalling, double-check the Apps module again to ensure that no other apps were left behind as dependencies. Sometimes, uninstalling one app doesn't automatically uninstall all of its dependencies.
- Contact Odoo Support (Crucial):
- Go to odoo.com/help: This is the main entry point for Odoo support.
- Find "Ask a Human": Look for a button or link that says "Ask a Human" or "Contact Us". This will allow you to start a live chat or submit a support ticket.
- Explain Your Situation: Clearly explain that you accidentally triggered a paid trial by installing an extra app, that you have now uninstalled all extra apps, and that you want to revert to the "One App Free" plan.
- Provide Your Database URL: Be sure to provide the URL of your Odoo database so the support team can assist you.
- Be Patient and Persistent:
- The Odoo support team might need some time to process your request. Be patient and follow up if you don't hear back from them within a reasonable timeframe.
- Be polite and persistent in your communication.
Why Contacting Support is Essential:
- Database Status: Odoo support has the ability to directly modify the status of your database and revert it to the free plan.
- Billing Issues: They can also help resolve any potential billing issues that might arise from the accidental trial activation.
- Technical Assistance: They can provide technical assistance to ensure that your database is properly configured for the free plan.
Important Considerations:
- Data Loss: Uninstalling apps should not result in data loss, but it's always a good idea to back up your database before making any major changes. (Although, if you're on the free plan, you likely don't have access to database backups).
- Future App Installations: Be very careful when installing new apps in the future to avoid accidentally triggering a paid trial again. Always check the dependencies and make sure you stay within the one-app limit.
By following these steps and contacting Odoo support, you should be able to revert to the free "One App Free" plan. Good luck!

First,
- Once any Enterprise app is installed (eg, Studio, Helpdesk, Marketing, etc.), the database is marked as Enterprise Trial .
- Even after uninstalling the app, Odoo still sees it as a trial database .
- To go back to "free" (Community-like behavior), you need to create a new database with only Community-level apps.
STEP-BY-STEP FIX
1.Back up your current database (important!)
- Go to your Odoo Online dashboard or Odoo.sh.
- Download a backup (.zip file) of your current database, in case you need your data later.
2.Create a fresh Odoo database
- Go to: https://www.odoo.com/trial
-
Create a new trial database but ONLY SELECT FREE APPS :
- Examples: Sales , CRM , Inventory , Website , POS , etc.
-
Do NOT install :
- Studio
- Field Service
- Helpdesk
- Approvals
- Marketing Apps
- or any app labeled "Enterprise"
- This ensures your new database stays on the free tier with no expiry .
3.(Optional) Migrate your data
If you want to bring your data from the old database , you have 2 options:
-
Manual export/import :
- Export data (Products, Customers, Sales, etc.) from your current trial DB using CSV.
- Import it into your new clean database.
- Use Odoo's data import tools in each app.
There is only one case where it doesn't work :
If you insist on keeping the same database that already triggered the trial — there's NO WAY to return that same DB to “free” mode.
Odoo locks that database to “Trial → Enterprise or Shutdown” flow.
Even uninstalling apps or removing modules won't reset the flag internally.

Thank you very much for your response and the solution you shared.
I’d also like to explain that I created a website for a medical clinic and wanted to add an appointment booking feature so that patients could schedule appointments through a calendar.
That’s when I installed the “Website Appointment” module, which apparently isn’t free as I had initially thought.
For this reason, I would like to keep my current database because it’s very important to me.
So, I would like to know how to properly export my database, since I now understand that I can’t use it with the free version.
I’ve already tried importing my database into a new instance, but it didn’t work.
I would really appreciate it if you could give me detailed steps on how to export and then import my database into the new one I’m going to create.
Thanks in advance for your help!
